If you don't want to play 'in Deutsch' - put this into a copy of your launcher named for 'in english':

export LC_ALL=en_EN

or

export LC_ALL=en_UK.utf8

depends on your setup. There's a warning about using LC_ALL in this way though coming from the people at gentoo on 'locale'.
