Hello flowtron.
Is it possible for me to trial as an admin of the wiki? I would like to get a little more standing on the wiki, and i do believe my [[Special:Contributions/DrauL|contributions]] speak for themselves. I am an avid editor and take pride in my edits. Thank you in advance.

:: Oh, well, my use of the term may not have been right in that situation. In better context: I would like to see what i could keep up to date with more standing. I could add more editors to the wiki when requests are relevant for access on the forums, and block abusers. (Even with the lack thereof.) Even though, in reality i do not ''need'' the permissions, i would like to get them, even as just a trial to see if it would work in your favour, with not having to spend so much of your own time on the wiki. People recognising me as a prime contributer would be an advantage as well.

:::For becoming a "prime contributor" only one thing is relevant: edits. Nevertheless in my opinion this clan leader thingy doesnt really work. The people are only interested in creating a (crappy) clan page. Only a few people are really interested in doing some work on other articles and only one or two are creating sometimes a new article. ::::I agree, in fact it's exactly what I've been talking to Bull3t about - he's been offering to take on managing the clan-list thread & organizational aspects related to that. I was actually contemplating omitting all the clan-pages when we re-birthed the wiki and limiting the clan aspect to the list .. but that would've never worked. When i create pages, like the [[4th AssaultCube Mapping Competition|4th Mapping Contest]] it was one of those pages that are quite relevant to everyone, I also unorphaned many pages as well as removing dead links and dead end pages.Those lists have become dramatically smaller. Sorry for my delayed reply also, i have recently moved house and am having troubler with my laptop. == Editing "Quo Vadis" ==
Adding my two cents: Responding to "The people are only interested in creating a (crappy) clan page [...] creating sometimes a new article.": I know that I for one would be a bigger contributor than normal if I knew exactly what needed to be done. When scanning the wiki, I do make occasional edits (such as typos on the mapping contests), but I never know exactly what we need. If I knew what we needed, I could help much more than I do now. Maybe a todo/wish list would be helpful? If not maybe clearer directions as to where you want the wiki to go. The best way to get action is so people know what action needs to happen. A wish list might be nice for people who dont know about the topic, but notice a page needs to be made. ::Moved this into it's own paragraph, since the old got sort of ultra-indented anyway and you actually started more of a new topic than what was discussed in 'Admin'. RR, did you see [http://forum.cubers.net/thread-1834.html Wiki Page Requests-Thread] on the forum? That's where the community can request stuff to write about; in general the wiki was always meant to be a supplement - sometimes Apollo even makes an argument for it becoming exclusive - to the offline-documentation. Apollo has a point with reducing redundancy, but providing offline documentation is also part of the low-tech paradigm under which AC has always existed. Some of our players might have a dial-up connection to the internet, so a few KB of diskspace is better for them. The wiki here should discuss CubeScript in examples, detail and on any meta-level anyone wants to talk about, it should contain HowTos, links to resources and explanations on how to get going with modeling, skybox creation, texture generation, mapping and anything else the core documentation doesn't go into detail about. Some of this might then make it into the offline docs - but they should always be kept "without frills", since (in my experience) the more words you use the less likely people will even try to read it .. but they'll come badgering you for the information you took care to explain in detail anyway - hence the splitting up makes so much sense again - just a few links from the offline docs to parts of the wiki and continuous referencing of either when a FAQ is re-asked on the forum ... ey, presto, every player knows everything they ever wanted to know about the game; and we'll all be nice to each other all the time too! ;-) --[[User:Flowtron|Flowtron]] 16:18, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello flowtron! I've been working on a new main page in my sandbox. I believe it is a lot better than the old one, as it is not just a list of links. It is a list of links with headings, some of which I've reorganized slightly. See it at [[User:Gibstick/sandbox]]. If you approve, I will continue work in this direction. == Clan Pages ==

Heyo Flowtron, since it seems like I'm doing most of the clan page editing/adding now a days, I have a couple questions.
*If a clan wants a picture, should I just upload and post it in the template for them?
*How strict are the 3v3 rules? Can it be a 2v2? What exactly is the purpose for this rule so I can interpet it better (I can come up with some possible explanations, probably not the ones you were thinking of though).
*How would I put translation to a different language (they provided the translated text)? Would I just make a new <nowiki>==Header==</nowiki>? I cannot possibly fix any errors or make any editing fixes to the text, as I pretty much speak only one language.
I'm bound to come up with more questions, but thanks for answering! If there is anything more I should know about, please tell me :)

:: I didn't come up with the 3v3-rule, that was something that came about on the old forum (2008) by the people then handling this procedure; it basically has the same background as my "3-month-old minimum"-rule for granting [[Sergeant]] permissions - just to weed out those that make you do work for nothing, clans that got created yesterday and are dead tomorrow. Regarding the pictures you should use common-sense - you ''know'' I'm no fan of using the wiki for clan-ads, so I'm assuming you're talking about their logo/icon, that's fine (if not inappropriate in itself) just make sure the format/filesize is web-oriented (no 4.32 MB .bmp!). Translations are handled by adding "_(NN)" where "NN" is the language-code, e.g. for [[Main Page]] in italian [[Main Page (it)]]. Actually, just look at the wiki-source of those two variants of the same page to see how it's done, especially about including the language-selection-table at the top! I noticed that in the page [[AssaultCubeRank]], you made some really bizarre looking errors in the "General" section, here are my fixes:

Most of what I did was capitalize Wahnfred and MakkE's names, corrected "jamz"s name, and fixed the formatting. I assumed you wanted ellipses, so I used elipses after jamz, not a period.
If this could be fixed, it would make one of the more representative pages of the wiki look nicer :)

Browsing wikipeadia the other day, I noticed that they had warning boxes. Do you think we could use something like this? I threw something together on my user sandbox [[User:Ronald_Reagan/sandbox]]
