''nextprimary'' (called ''item'' before 1.0) is the command used to specify which [[primary weapon]] you will use the next time you spawn. By default, you start with the assault rifle. In version 1.0, your chosen weapon is saved in your configuration files, but in previous versions it was necessary to add the command to your [[autoexec.cfg]] file.

Here is a list of usable values and the weapons they represent:
*2 = V-19 Combat Shotgun
*3 = A-ARD/10 Submachine Gun
*4 = Precision Tech AD-81 Sniper Rifle
*5 = Mtp 57 Assault Rifle (default)

When you change your weapon in-game, you will not be able to use it until you respawn. You can use the [[suicide]] command if you want to start using it right away, but this will take away a point from your [[frag]] (kill) count if on deathmatch, or add a point to your death count if on a team-based mode such as [[Capture the flag|CTF]].
